Another bright sunny weekend was just too much to hope for at our third and final event in the Series, but thanks to our sponsors Redbull, who provided a players lounge in the form of a 20-feet high and 50-feet wide wigwam, the players managed to keep dry during the first few hours of Saturday morning.
Free Redbull was also available all weekend, which helped to keep players energy levels up.
Saturday still managed to produce some great softball, with some of the top contenders for overall honours beating each other to set up a great final day on Sunday.
For those who camped over on Saturday evening, The Mutz Knutz played live until 1.00am and the place was rocking with hits from the 70's through to the present day and a good time was had by all.
With several teams in each division still in with a chance of winning the overall series, it was all to play for on Sunday. Again, rain was on the agenda, but unlike Diamond 1 last year we managed to complete the schedule with H2O winning the A competition, Mariners taking the B trophy and the Zambezi Warriors winning at C level. Runner-up places went to BT1, Mighty Muppets and Mescalitoes.
Both the A and B divisions came down to run difference to determine the overall series winners. In the A final, both BT1 and H2O had exactly the same run difference going into Sundays final so it was a straight winner-takes-all game. With the score standing at 1-1 after the first inning, H2O turned on the pressure and BT to made some uncharacteristic fielding errors that turned out to be the deciding factor.
